Legal
Content License
Effective 8 October 2026.
This license covers every file you download from Sheet Reserve, in any format, whether you download it with a membership or as a free sample. It forms part of our Terms of Service. A plain-language summary comes first. The formal license below it is what legally applies, and it governs if the two ever seem to differ.
In plain language
You may
- Use the files for personal and commercial purposes, including work you do for clients or an employer.
- Change them however you like: edit the formulas, restyle them, add or remove sheets, or combine them with your own work.
- Share what you make with them, such as filled-in reports, budgets, schedules, charts, analyses and documents. This includes a workbook you've completed or adapted for a client or colleague as part of your work.
- Keep using files you've downloaded after your membership ends.
- Reuse the public data in a dataset on the terms of its source's license, and get the same data from the original source whenever you like.
You may not
- Sell, sublicense, redistribute or publish the files themselves, or near-copies of them, as templates, datasets or other data products.
- Upload the files to template marketplaces or file-sharing sites.
- Use the files to build a competing template or data library.
- Share your account or give anyone else access to it.
- Download files in bulk with scripts, bots or scrapers.

| Posting a template, blank or with its example data, on your website for others to download | No |
| Selling a lightly edited copy of a template on a template marketplace | No |
| Giving a colleague your password so they can download files | No |
The license
Parties and definitions
This license is granted by Yunus Emre Vurgun, who runs Sheet Reserve ("we" or "us"), to you, the account holder who downloads the files ("you").
- "Files" means the spreadsheet files you download from Sheet Reserve, in any format, including their structure, formatting, formulas, notes, documentation and example data.
- "Outputs" means work you create using the Files, such as filled-in reports, budgets, schedules, charts, analyses and documents, including a workbook you have completed with your own data or adapted for a particular project.
Grant
Subject to this license, we grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license, without the right to sublicense, to:
- use, copy and modify the Files for personal and commercial purposes, including work for clients or an employer; and
- create Outputs and share, publish or deliver them to anyone, including for payment.
Anyone you deliver an Output to may use and adapt that Output for their own purposes, but may not distribute the Files, or copies of them, in a way these restrictions prohibit.
Restrictions
You may not:
- sell, sublicense, redistribute or publish the Files, or near-copies of them, whether on their own or bundled with other material, as templates, datasets or other data products, for free or for payment;
- upload or post the Files to template marketplaces, file-sharing sites or any other place where others can download them;
- use the Files to build, or add to, a template or data library that competes with Sheet Reserve;
- share your Sheet Reserve account or give anyone else access to it, or obtain Files through someone else's account; or
- download Files with automated tools, scrape the site, or download in bulk beyond normal use.
An Output that is offered for others to reuse as a template or dataset counts as a near-copy of the Files, not as an Output.
Rights we keep
The Files are licensed, not sold. We keep all rights that this license doesn't expressly grant you, and the license doesn't transfer ownership of the Files.
Datasets and the licenses of their sources
The figures in each dataset come from the public source named on the dataset's page and on Data sources. Those figures remain under their source's license, and nothing in this license limits any right that the source's license gives you. You can always obtain the same data directly from the source.
This license covers our own work in a dataset: the compilation and selection, the structure and formatting, the formulas, and our notes and documentation.
Where a source's license requires attribution, you must credit the source when you publish or share work that uses its data. The main sources are:
| Source | License | What it asks of you |
|---|---|---|
| World Bank | Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) | Credit the World Bank, link to the license, and say if you changed the data |
| NASA POWER | Free and open | NASA asks you to acknowledge the POWER Project. Its referencing page gives the wording |
| Natural Earth | Public domain | Nothing. No permission or credit is needed |
Data sources has the full list of sources.
Templates
Templates come with fictional example data, which you should replace with your own. You don't need to credit Sheet Reserve when you use a template, though a mention or a link is appreciated.
Free samples
The free samples are covered by this same license.
After your membership ends
Files you've already downloaded may be kept and used under this license after your membership ends. Downloading new files needs an active membership, except for the free samples.
If you break this license
If you seriously or repeatedly break this license, we may end it, along with your account. You must then stop using the Files and delete your copies. Outputs you delivered to other people before then aren't affected.
No warranty
The Files are provided on the terms set out in our Terms of Service, including its disclaimers and limits on liability. Engineering, architecture, finance and budgeting templates are not professional advice, and their results should be checked by a qualified person before you rely on them.
Questions
If you're not sure whether something is allowed, email [email protected] before you do it.
We may update this license. Material changes are announced as described in the Terms of Service.
